Rachel Kneebone’s complex porcelain works feature in the group show ‘The Surreal House’, currently on view at the Barbican Art Gallery.
Based on the Surrealist Movement, the exhibition includes works by the pioneers of the Surrealism, Salvador Dali and Marcel Duchamp and the gallery space is composed of a labyrinth of chambers, adorned by cinematic dreamscapes and inhibiting figures.
Kneebone is exhibiting new works ‘At The Edge of Dawn and Darkness’ (2009), ‘It’s Not a Question of Going Somewhere But of Being There Entirely’ (2009) and ‘Blind Convulsion’ (2009), whose intricate detail implies a mercurial sense of turmoil.
Tickets cost £10, and are available online or telephone 0207 382 2382. Talks, performances and the artist’s films are shown in the Gallery every Thursday until 10pm.
