Gabriel Orozco’s most celebrated works will be on view at the Museum of Modern Art in New York from 13 December. The show includes his famous 1997 work ‘Black Kites’, a human skull covered with a graphite grid and ‘La DS’ (1993), a Citroën automobile that has been reduced to two-thirds its normal width.
Orozco’s projects lie between the realms of art and reality and the artist intentionally attempts to create a range of works—from photographs to drawings, using every day objects.
The exhibition will tour to the Kunstmuseum Basel from 18 April 2010, the Musée National d’art Modern, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, 15 September 2010 and at Tate Modern, London from 19 January 2011. A catalogue will accompany the exhibition.
