Georg Baselitz at Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, The Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden will be exhibiting major works by Georg Baselitz as part of his new exhibiton ’Dresdner Frauen’ (Women of Dresden). The works on view commerorate the destruction of the city of Dresden at the end of the Second World War. One of the major works in particular is ’Forty Five’, a monumental work composed of twenty large scale plywood panels which Baselitz completed a few weeks prior to the Fall of the Wall.

The show also features paintings and drawings such a ’Nachtessen in Dresden’ (Supper in Dresden) and ’The Bridge Ghost’s Supper’.

A catalogue will be available to accompany the exhibition.
