Mona Hatoum at Fondazione Querini Stampalia

3 Jun 2009

In conjunction with the 53rd Venice Biennale, Fondazione Querini Stampalia are exhibiting 'Interior Landscape', new and recent works by Mona Hatoum. The exhibition, curated by Chiara Bertola, is comprised of twenty-five works exhibited over two floors of the museum including the new piece ‘Interior Landscape’, a bedroom installation composed of furnitiure and domestic elements. Hatoum has also made numerous interventions in the Museum’s collection, using the furniture as a framework for new ideas and existing works. Hatoum’s work addresses issues of individual and political identity, displacement and conflict by transforming the familiar and domestic into foreign, uncanny objects.

A catalogue in English and Italian is available with the exhibition.
