The Brooklyn Museum will host the final destination for Gilbert & George’s grand retrospective tour. The exhibition comprises more than 80 pieces created since 1970, among them more than a dozen that are only in the Brooklyn presentation. This impressive survey traces their stylistic and emotional evolution over 3 decades, displaying works in a variety of mixed media. Included in the exhibition are selections from the ‘Ginkgo Pictures’ series, which formed part of the exhibition that represented the United Kingdom at the 2005 Venice Biennale, as well as works from the ‘Cherry Blossom Pictures’ (1974), ‘Finding God’ (1982) and more recent works, among them two pieces from the Bomb Pictures series, created for the inaugural presentation of the exhibition at Tate Modern.
The exhibition will take place in the Morris A. and Meyer Schapiro Wing and Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Gallery, 4th and 5th Floors.
