Exhibiting in Sweden for the first time, Millesgården is delighted to present recent works by Carroll Dunham. Although focusing on his paintings, the show also includes a comprehensive selection of his drawings and sculptures, created between 2004 and 2008.
The exhibition offers insight into Dunham’s perception and concepts of time, motion and depth. The use of two-dimensional geometric shapes and a cartoon-like narrative characterise a recurring motif of imagery in Dunham’s work. His style is deceptively simple and at the same time strikingly abstract, conveying an organic and abrupt presence. Negotiating foreground and background into an intertwining of colour and form, the works are charged with meaning resulting in a highly personal and original body of work.
