Julie Mehretu at North Carolina Museum of Art

17 Aug 2008

‘Julie Mehretu: City Sitings’ brings together nine monumental paintings from her tour. Inspired by cities, Mehretu’s energetic canvases translate into sophisticated layers of maps, logos, urban grids and architectural renderings. Examining issues of migration, globalization, conflict, social action, and utilizing urban landscape as a setting, these versatile and comprehensive works re-direct the viewer to a new perspective of their own urban landscapes.

The artist will attend a Meet-The-Artist Reception on September 13 from 7.30pm, as well as hosting an Artist Talk on September 14, from 2.30pm.
