Artist Katharina Fritsch is to be awarded the prestigious Piepenbrock Prize for Sculpture. To honour her significant contribution to modern sculpture, and in particular her 'critical-magical concept of figuration in sculpture' (as cited by Christoph Brockhaus, Jury member), Katharina will be awarded the €50,000 prize at the Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart on 21 August. Previous winners have included Max Bill, Eduardo Chillida, Anthony Cragg, Dani Karavan and Rebecca Horn.
