Another Nice Etching
This is a special charity edition made by Jake and Dinos Chapman in aid of the SamandRuby Charity, which focuses relief efforts on the Phang Nga Province in Thailand: one of the most damaged regions after the Tsunami disaster of 2005. This etching is characteristic of the Chapman’s working method, which often mixes a sardonic sense of humour with pertinent and challenging cultural references. The title of this etching is a nod to the Chapman’s own art market and value, but also a banally exact description of the work itself. In this way, the work explores the way that a title can literally stand in for antecedent meaning.
