Each of the sculptures in this series is individually cast from a single orchid. Marc Quinn here explores the idea of life's frailty, by capturing the life of a flower in full bloom, its most sublime state, and like the frozen flowers of his work 'Garden' (2000), gives it a permanence that otherwise would wilt away. Here, the cast silver gives the orchid's surface a frosted effect, as if locked in space.
